The Frye Company is the oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States. Founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a well-to-do shoemaker from England, and family-run until 1945, Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers on both sides of America’s Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-American war, and by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. When home-steading drew adventurous New England families to the West during the mid and late 1800′s many of the pioneers wore Frye Boots for the long journey. Today Frye remains true to its roots with its line of heritage boots, but continues to innovate as it introduces chic new handbags, pumps, and sandals to its collection.
This Marco Roper boot from Frye has a rugged character and rough attitude but delivers true style. This attractive pull-on western style boot has an oiled leather upper with tonal stitching, two pull tabs on each side of the shaft, neoprene oil resistant soles with a full-length leather midsole for durability, and a cushioned insole for premium comfort.

A new benchmark in mens boots!
I utilized the Frye Boot Company “porthole” on the Amazon web site and shopped directly with Frye. First off their web site is very cool and I experienced no problems, however once the item shipped that is where I missed all the little things Amazon does so very well and the main issue missing was TRACKING information which was not provided by Frye until asked.
With all that said let me hopefully entice some of you to take the plunge and invest in an heirloom! I purchased a pair of Frye ropers for my wife for the past holiday and she could not stop gushing over the comfort and the simply stated style of the boot. I was very intrigued by the Marco Roper’s wipstitch design and today I had my first chance to test drive these gorgeous boots and boy did they deliver! I have owned 15 pairs of Justin Ropers (for work) and while they are very very good, these Frye Marco Ropers eclipse my Justin’s by miles.
The comfort is the first thing I noticed, just as I have grown to LOVE the out of the box feel for Pearl Izumi athletic shoes I have now found the boot equivalent of Pearl Izumi for boots. The build quality is off the charts, the comfort is the BEST I have ever experienced and the cool factor keeps a smug smile pasted to my face.
I will be buying a few more pairs over the years, and will definitely buy them thru Amazon vice the Frye/Amazon portal just for the piece of mind that Amazon brings to the buying experience.
Whether you are Cowboy Guy or Cruzin up to the Viper Room in Hollywood on your Harley, these boots are the coolest and most comfortable boots I have ever worn! One pair black and one pair brown and brother you are set!
